Hourly movers in Austin, TX

Most local moves in Austin are billed by the hour, and that is how Playhouse Moving prices them. You choose the crew size with our recommendation, we bring the truck, pads and tools, and you pay for the time the job takes. A crew that works fast and a customer who is ready are the two biggest ways to lower the bill.

How hourly billing works

Your rate is set by crew size and stated in your written quote, along with how time is counted and any minimum. We estimate a time range up front based on your home, stairs, parking and distance.

How to keep the hours down

  • Have boxes packed, sealed and stacked near the door
  • Reserve elevators and loading docks ahead of time
  • Clear parking for the truck as close to the door as possible
  • Take apart beds you are comfortable with the night before
  • Keep valuables and essentials with you so the crew can keep moving

Hourly or flat?

Hourly pricing is usually best for local moves because you only pay for what is used. Long-distance and commercial moves are quoted differently. See pricing for details.

Hourly Moving questions

When does the clock start?

Your written quote explains exactly how time is counted, including travel, so you know before booking.

Is there a minimum number of hours?

Your quote states any minimum for your move before you book.

How many movers should I book?

Studios and one-bedrooms are usually two movers. Larger homes, long carries and stairs often justify three or four. We will recommend a crew size.

Do you charge extra for stairs?

Stairs add time, and time is what you pay for. We ask about stairs up front so the estimate reflects them.
