We sort out the building rules before the truck shows up
Most Austin complexes set move hours, require an elevator reservation, and ask movers for a certificate of insurance (COI) naming the property. Send us your leasing office contact or their move-in packet and we will get the COI to them ahead of time. Do the same for both buildings if you are moving from one complex to another.
We also ask about the walk: how far it is from the truck to your door, whether there is a dock or a curb, and which elevator is the freight car. That tells us how many movers you actually need.
Stairs, tight corners and third-floor walk-ups
Plenty of Austin apartments are walk-ups with turning stairwells. We pad and wrap furniture so it survives the corners, take apart what will not fit, and carry with a system so the job keeps moving. If something truly will not fit, we tell you before we try, not after.
Common Austin apartment moves we handle
West Campus and Riverside leases turning over in August, Domain and Mueller mid-rises, downtown and Rainey Street towers, and garden complexes out in Round Rock, Pflugerville and Cedar Park. For studios and very small loads, see our studio movers and small moves pages. For towers, see high-rise and condo moving.
Austin loading docks and street permits
If the moving truck uses the building loading dock, no City of Austin right-of-way permit is needed. If the truck parks on the street or another public right-of-way, the customer obtains a City of Austin right-of-way permit: apply at least 3 business days ahead and pay at least 2 business days ahead.
City of Austin right-of-way permits. Confirm your building's dock and loading rules with management.
